AN ANGEL HELPED ME GO ON A FAST

Several years ago I wanted to do a fast, but it was too hard for me. I felt led to do a long term WATER-ONLY fast. I knew my life depended on it. I knew God wanted me to do it... But I just couldn't overcome my flesh.

I didn't have enough discipline. I could not stop eating! I used food for comfort. I was addicted to FOOD!

But I didn't give up. I prayed fervently for help, AND SO GOD SENT AN ANGEL TO HELP ME FAST!

One day I fell asleep and had a dream. In the dream an angel came running to me. He grabbed my hand, exclaimed happily, "Come on, Jessica! Let's fast!", and pulled me forward, and we began to run together. I woke up.

I understood that angel was sent by God to partner with me, to strengthen me, to activate me, to enable me. How he did it exactly, I don't know, but the very next day I started FASTING. And saying no to food was EASY.

Did I still hunger? Yes. Did I still desire food? Yes! But did I eat? No! I didn't put one crumb in my mouth for 15 days straight... nothing but WATER ONLY.

The results of that fast were absolutely life changing. I am still reaping the benefits to this day in my health, my life, and in the many dreams and visions I experienced during that fast. I encountered God at heightened levels, and the fast ended with me being "electrocuted" by the Holy Spirit at the altar at church when a spirit of fear was literally blasted off of me. The idea that if you're "called to fast" it will be easy, or it will "just happen without a battle" is false.

Yes, God does work that way sometimes, but not every time. In fact, I think it's safe to say that when you really need to do a fast, the devil and your flesh will kick resistance up a gear.

That doesn't mean fasting is impossible. That just means you have to pray and ask God for help to fast. He will send help one way or another.

Angels are real and they are sent to help us. Fasting is necessary and unfortunately, it's a lost weapon in the church. We need to activate it again now more than ever!
